Welcome to our website.
It was meant to be about a bicycle trip from nelspruit, south africa to the UK. Unfortunately we had to drop the cycling idea and turned it into a motorised visit to Sth Africa and Namibia. We used minibuses, buses, and we hired a car from Cape Town.
We started from Johannesburg, travelled down to Durban via the Drakensberg Mtns and Pietermaritzburg, then followed the coast via East London, Port Elizabeth and Knysna to Cape Town. We then headed north to Citrusdal and Springbok, before a brief visit to Port Nolloth. Afterwards we went to Upington and spent 3 nights in the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park (the “green” Kalahari).
Next we crossed the border with Namibia and drove to Ai-Ais and Keetmanshoop; then north to the capital Windhoek. After a few days there, we headed to Sesriem to see the sand dunes. Desolation awaited us as we drove through the country’s north west to Opuwo via Khorixas. For me, the highlight of the trip was seeing the Himba people near Opuwo.
We effectively headed straight back from there to Johannesburg, from where we flew to Nairobi.
The trip lasted 3 months.
Hoping to hear from you.
Regards,
vine and trevor
